Our Story

Designed by Florists, for Florists

Rooted in Floristry

My name is Kanna, and I come from three generations of florists. For decades, we used traditional floral foam without questioning it. But as I watched my grandfather’s health decline — later diagnosed with cancer — I began to wonder: what exactly are we touching and breathing every day?

Learning the Truth

I learned that floral foam contains formaldehyde and toxic dust. It’s a single-use plastic. It pollutes. It is harmful. And yet, florists have no real alternative. The eco alternatives out there do not have the functionality to support the structure florists need.

Kanna’s Grandfather, Asaichi.

Crafting ASAICHI

That’s why I created ASAICHI — a plant-based, compostable floral base that hydrates and holds like foam, without the toxins. I’ve tested it with designers, from flower shops to large events.

ASAICHI was my grandfather’s name. He was born into a family of florists and lived his life surrounded by flowers. In Japanese, ASAICHI means “first thing in the morning” ー a nod to freshness, readiness, and being first to show up for what matters. Our name honors him and celebrates a fresh start for the floral industry — one that’s healthier for people and the planet.

“ASAICHI is more than a product. It’s a movement that rewrites the tools of our trade – with health, sustainability, and beauty at it’s center.”
